Sexually
Transmitted Infections (Including HIV)
Audience: Teens, parents, health professionals, and the general public
Length: Varies
Program: Focuses on myths, risks and prevention of sexually transmitted
infections with special emphasis on HIV. It involves group interaction
and participation. Videos are also available upon request to accompany
this topic.
Birth
Control Kit
Audience: Teens, college students, adults, and the general public
Length: 1 hour
Program: Discusses all FDA approved methods of birth control ranging from
abstinence to all medically available options. Effectiveness rates of
the various methods of birth control and individual responsibility are
discussed. Examples of the different birth control options are also provided.
Safer
Sex
Audience: Teens, college students, adults, and the general public
Length: 1-1.5 hours
Program: Promotes risk-reducing behavior for persons who have chosen to
be sexually active. Special emphasis is placed on assertive communication
and proper condom use.
Baby Think
It Over
Audience: Teens (9th-12th grades)
Cost: Participating student to cover the cost of batteries
Program: This is a TWO-PART program. First a video called "The Parent's
License" is shown to the class followed by a video explaining the
Real Care Baby. These videos are used to facilitate discussion about the
responsibilities of parenthood. The infant simulators are then assigned
to the students to provide a weekend-long parenting experience. We recommend
that students take the Babies home Friday after school and end the simulation
Monday morning before school. A de-briefing is conducted following the
simulated parenting experience.
HIV 101
Audience: Any
Length: 1.5-2 hours
Program: Group interactive discussion and presentation on facts about HIV. By the end of this program, participants will be able to identify the definition of HIV/AIDS, How HIV is transmitted, and how it can be prevented. Discussion over testing, treatments for those living with HIV/AIDS, and barriers to prevention/care will also be presented.
